Just a quick sneak peek at Justin and Dana's amazing fall engagement session on Lake Michigan!  

WEDDING: GARY & SUSAN | LANSING, MI | AUGUST 7, 1976

I've been to a lot of weddings.  I see all different kinds of weddings, with different budgets, and decor, and themes.  I see big weddings and little weddings, and almost everything in between.  Of all the weddings I've seen, this might be my favorite wedding of all.  That's saying something because I wasn't even there.  35 years ago today, my parents were married - and they've remained an example of what a marriage should be. 

I'm so thankful for the way these two people have honored each other with their marriage.  I'm thankful for the way they modeled a healthy commitment to my brothers and me (there's 4 boys in the family!).  I'm thankful for the way they've "bailed me out" in almost every way you can think of.  I'm thankful for the way they love and cherish my children now as grandparents.  And I'm thankful that they made a promise to each other 35 years ago today.

Happy 35th anniversary mom and dad :)

KENNEDY GRACE | NEWBORN SESSION

A few weeks ago, our friends Abbie and Jason had a beautiful baby girl, named Kennedy Grace.  I love that name, but what I love the most about it, is that our daughter Maddie loves to tell everyone that she got to meet "kenenenedeee grace." Now, whenever Maddie sees one of these photos, she makes sure she tells me exactly who it is: "that's Abbie's baby.. her name is Kenenendeeeee Grace!"

Well, I had the privilege of photographing their beautiful family a couple of weeks ago, and I asked them if it was okay if I shared a few pictures of their beautiful little girl. 

CHRIS & STEPHANIE | ANN ARBOR, MI WEDDING | WEBER INN

Sometimes, photographing a wedding is so much fun, it's hard to really think of it as "work."  Yesterday was one of those weddings.  Yesterday, Stephanie and Chris were married in a beautiful ceremony at Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, MI.  Not only is the church beautiful, it's full of light - which, as a photographer, is a particularly nice setting for a wedding celebration.

 

One of the things I really enjoy about Chris & Stephanie is that you can tell that they were completely enjoying every moment of the day.  It was fun to watch Stephanie enjoying her morning with her bridesmaids (all eight of them!) at her parent's house, as they had their makeup done.  It was fun watching them get ready and anticipate what was coming next.  It was fun to watch Chris and his groomsmen, as they relaxed and laughed.  For me, watching two people come together on a journey - and being able to document it for them - is an honor.  And to be honest, it's just plain fun!

The weather, though threatening to rain, held off at all the right times, and gave us a beautiful afternoon for a wedding.  Here are a few of my favorite images from the day.
